Mercy Chinwo is a gospel music artiste, actor and also a comedian from Nigeria. At the age of eight, she began singing in the children’s chorus at her church. She eventually gained notoriety in 2012 after winning the renowned talent competition “Nigerian Idols.”

Chinwo Mercy Background

The birthdate of Mercy Nnenda Chinwo is September 5, 1990. She was born in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, into a family of five. Mercy had to care for herself and her siblings after losing her father when she was a little child. She so approached her music ministry with seriousness right away.

Mercy Chinwo Career

Chinwo started from the children’s choir at age 8. Subsequently, she moved into the adult choir and became the music director of her local church. She was also lending her voice to gospel music ministers like Sammie Okposo, Joe Praize, Buchi, Chris Morgan and Preye. Later on, she began to participate in musical competitions until she found Nigerian Idol. Eventually, she emerged winner in the season 2 of the Nigerian talent show, and came to limelight.

In 2015, she released her debut single Testimony (2015) and subsequently Igwe (2016). On February 20, 2018, Mercy released her debut studio album The Cross: My Gaze. The 16-track contemporary gospel songs was released by EeZee Conceptz under Dixtrit Media. It featured guest appearances from Shady B, Fiokee, Chris Morgan, and Olaitan Odoko. Marriage

Mercy Chinwo is married to Pastor Blessed Uzochikwa of Water Brooks Church Lekki, Lagos. The couple tied the knot in a glamorous church ceremony in Port Harcourt, Rivers State on August 13, 2022 just a day after their traditional marriage ceremony took place also in the same city of Port Harcourt.

The top-notch event attracted many celebrities to the Garden City. Among those in attendance were Obi Cubana, Banky W, Adesua Etomi, Waje, Chigurl, Joe Praize, Pita Sings, and many others.

Chinwo’s major drive is passion; she had her eyes on the bigger picture, but started small. She knew exactly what she wanted and kept her eyes on the goal. Mercy Chinwo started from the children choir until she got a bigger platform. Preparedness must meet opportunity for success to happen.
